Where do you find the best free wooden pallets that are safe from pesticides, chemicals, and other toxic ingredients?

Feed & Tack Supply: My favorite place to get used pallets is from feed stores. Their pallets are typically made from softwoods and carry nontoxic animal food supplies.

Residential Construction Site: Pallets from construction sites typically carry all nontoxic materials. Remember to ask permission before you remove anything from a site.

How TO

Burning the wood creates a porous surface that will easily accept paint or stain.

Be sure to do this in a well-ventilated area or better yet, do it outside. Let the wood cool completely before applying your stain. Check out the next photo for the finish results.
